What this policy covers
This privacy policy explains how the mobile application Trailer Weight & Towing Calc (the “app”) handles information when you use it. The app is published under the package name com.trailerweight.towingcalculator.
The short version
- Your truck and trailer numbers never leave your device. Every calculation happens locally on your phone.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit the numbers you enter or the rigs you save.
- The app does not require an account or sign-up.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob, which uses your device’s advertising identifier.
- You can make an optional one-time in-app purchase to remove ads, handled by Google Play Billing.
- The app uses Google Firebase for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting, to help us fix bugs and improve the app. This never includes your files or personal content.
What we do NOT collect
- The weights, dimensions, or ratings you type in, or the results the app calculates.
- The truck and trailer profiles you save inside the app.
- Your name, email address, phone number, or other personal identifiers, unless you choose to send them to us through the contact form.
- Your precise location.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera, photos, or files.
What stays on your device
When you save a rig, the truck and trailer specs (such as GVWR, curb weight, and axle ratings) are stored in a private on-device database so you can reuse them on your next trip. Saved rigs are capped at 30 entries, with the oldest removed automatically, and your theme preference is stored the same way. This information stays on your phone and is never uploaded by us. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Permissions the app requests
Internet access
The app uses the internet only to serve advertisements (Google AdMob), to process an optional in-app purchase (Google Play Billing), and to send anonymous usage analytics and crash reports through Google Firebase. The numbers you enter and the rigs you save are never sent over the network. The app does not request file, storage, location, camera, or contacts permissions.
Advertising — Google AdMob
We monetize the free version of the app with Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process the following on Google’s servers in order to serve and measure ads:
- Your device’s advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android).
- General device information such as device model, OS version, language, and approximate region.
- IP address and ad interaction events.
In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, the app presents a Google-certified consent message (Google’s User Messaging Platform) so you can choose whether ads are personalized, and you can reopen those choices from the app’s Settings screen. You can reset or remove your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings. Google’s use of advertising data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy, and AdMob’s practices are described here: support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
In-app purchases — Google Play Billing
The app offers an optional one-time purchase to remove ads. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or receive your payment card details. Google processes the transaction under Google’s own terms and privacy policy.
Analytics and crash reporting (Google Firebase)
The app uses Google Firebase (Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics) to understand how the app is used in aggregate and to detect and fix crashes. For these purposes Google may collect and process on its servers:
- App usage and interaction events (for example, screens opened and features used), in aggregate.
- General device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate region.
- An app-instance identifier and diagnostic information.
- Crash logs, stack traces, and the device state at the time of a crash.
This data is used only to improve the app’s stability and experience. It is not used to serve personalized ads, is not sold, and never includes your personal content. Google’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy, and Firebase’s practices are described here: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. The only parties that receive data are Google AdMob (to provide and measure advertising), Google Firebase (for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting), and Google Play Billing (to process an optional purchase), subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy.
Children
The app is a general-audience towing utility intended for adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will respond.
Data retention
Saved rigs and your theme preference stay on your device only and are capped at 30 rig entries. You can delete any saved rig at any time from inside the app. Uninstalling the app deletes all on-device data. Data held by Google AdMob and Google Play is retained according to Google’s policies.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data on our own servers, there is nothing on our side for you to access, correct, export, or delete. For data Google may hold about your device’s advertising identifier, you can manage your preferences in your device settings or via Google’s ad settings page: adssettings.google.com.
Not professional advice
The app is a planning calculator. Its results depend entirely on the numbers you enter and are provided for general guidance only. Always confirm your true loaded weights on a certified scale, and follow the ratings on your vehicle’s door-jamb label and owner manual. The app is not a substitute for professional or legal advice.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version is indicated by the “Last updated” date below. Material changes will be published at this URL before they take effect in the app.
